„The Whale” to góra non-profit w sercu społeczności Upper Valley. Nie znajdziesz lepszej zabawy na nartach, gdy jest puch, różnorodne trasy i krótki wjazd krzesełkiem na szczyt. Przed 2020 rokiem często występowały problemy z wyciągiem i sztucznym naśnieżaniem. Jednak dzięki nowemu zarządowi i inwestycjom zainstalowano nowe krzesełko, a ratrakowanie i sztuczne naśnieżanie zostały znacząco ulepszone (brawo dla Jona i zespołu!).

Classic Little New England hill. Wish they had better snowmaking.

Lousiest snowboard experience in New England by far. Website advertises late season rate, $25 for an adult day ticket. However, when we arrived at the mountain it turned out to be $35 per ticket. Had we known that, we would have gone to a different resort. The staff selling the tickets was borderline rude and clearly did not want to be there.
This is not a snowboard friendly resort. To exit the only chairlift one needs to go down a very steep and high sloop to get onto the trail. Area in front of the lift was not groomed or not maintained during the day. So, there were many bumps that launched you in the air. Not suitable for a (beginning) snowboarder.
Also, a sign at the lodge stated that 96% of the trails were open. That was simply not true At least 4 of the major trails were closed. Others had twigs coming through the snow, not a few here and there, but everywhere.
Finally, the conditions of the slopes were miserable. I estimate that 60-70 % of open trails were not groomed and they were a mess. I can imagine that you want to preserve most of the "fresh" powder, but if a trail is completely worn down the skiers/snowboarders, it does not make sense NOT to groomed it.
Conclusion: either close the mountain or keep it open, but put in some effort. This was amateur hour. Would not recommend this mountain to anyone.

Looks like they only made snow on one trail. You need to spend $$$ to make $$$. Lift looked tired and old. The place needs a freshening up everywhere. Could be a sweet little place.... needs more attention to detail..... ticket prices are fair!

Looks cute from highway........ but not enough trails open....... dirty lodge....... tired base area....... not enough snowmaking......... could be great with more effort........ what was open was really nice, trails need a serious hair cut before they open up...... could be amazing!

Place has incredible potential. Could be best place around. But the day we went they didn't have any greens trails open from the top. Just the bunny hill. Needs a lot of TLC. trails have tons of potential, but unkept and over grown. Looks like they have a snowboard park but no one bothered to mow the grass or make any snow in it. Needs a lot of painting and cleaning. Bar needs a serious face lift. Get rid of shrubbery on natural trails....... didn't seem like they had enough help, to few employees........ but it's darn cute and can see how it could be awesome. If it was fully open and in great shape it would be the best value around. Give it a 2.5 but could easily be a 5+

Great exposure from interstate......... but looks tired........ needs a face lift! Empty signs on roof......... Seems very disorganized......... not enough trails open......... they didn't even mow the trails in the fall to make opening trails easier........ lots of burnt out lights at base area and trails at night........ but very cute with potential.......... just needs some real TLC and better management.......

My dad and I visited on a whim on our way back from Montreal, coming out of Vermont. Whaleback is itty-bitty but offers a fun day of skiing and has a few trails that are surprisingly challenging (the one called YOOYM seems borderline suicidal ... we passed on it).
I'd recommend it.
Solid Mountain. The mountain does have it's faults, but the tickets are cheap. Check it out when you heading up or back to Vermont.
